Celebrating four yeas with BEC
Our newly-appointed General Manager, Sam Matheson, has been a key team member at Built Environment Channel for four years. He’s a busy man, at work and at home.
What do you think is the most important skill a successful professional needs?
You’ve got to be capable and reliable. You don’t have to be the smartest or the funniest in the room and for 99% of your working life, you don’t need to be either of those things. There’s nothing better than receiving something you need, on time and done well.
What have been some of the most important career lessons you’ve learned?
I quickly learned organisation is an important skill. It didn’t come naturally to me but a few sharp moments in my first year in the workforce whipped me into shape.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I love going to the footy, spending time with my new son and seeing family and friends.
What’s something surprising not many people know about you?
I play the piano and the violin. I’m also a twin!
Where do you think you can have the biggest impact in the future of Built Environment Channel?
We’ve got a unique and innovative channel centred around connection. It brings the industry together, and helps to celebrate the businesses and people within it. We are only scratching the surface of how we can use our network to change the way industry news, information and inspiration is consumed by built environment professionals.
